Prone stereotactic biopsy During prone stereotactic biopsy, the patient lies face down on a specially designed table with the breast placed through an opening in the tabletop. The breast is imaged from two slightly different angles to help guide the needle to the location of the abnormality. The tabletop is raised and the radiologist performs the procedure from beneath. Throughout the procedure the breast is slightly compressed and held in position. |
